(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 22 - Some 57,000 fans packed into a
sold-out San Siro Tuesday night to see the Rolling Stones play a
concert in tribute to drummer Charlie Watts who died aged 80 in
August last year.
The concert opened with a video tribute to the long-time
percussionist.
Mick Jagger saluted Milan in Italian after Street Fighting Man.
"This is our first tour without Charlie and we miss him
terribly," said the 78-year-old frontman.
There were various references to the Ukraine war during the
concert with guitarist Keith Richards, also 78, dressed in the
Ukrainian national colours of blue and yellow and images of
bombed-out buildings. (ANSA).
