Salvini, Berlusconi have talks, stress need for solid govt

Leaders say they have common purpose with Meloni

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 30 - League leader Matteo Salvini and Forza Italia (FI) leader Silvio Berlusconi met for talks at the latter's home at Arcore, near Milan, on Friday following the victory of their centre-right coalition in Sunday's general election.
    The driving force of the coalition's triumph was Brothers of Italy (FdI) party of Giorgia Meloni, who looks set to become Italy's first woman premier after her right-wing group got around 26% of the vote.
    The League got close to 9% and FI a little over 8%.
    A joint FI-League statement said the talks were "cordial" and the two leaders reiterated their "common purpose with Giorgia Meloni.
    "It is necessary to give Italy a solid, high-level government that is capable of addressing complicated challenges, starting with the emergency stemming from record energy prices, soon," it said. (ANSA).
