(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 2 - The Italian government on Thursday
night approved a decree extending supplies of aid including arms
to Ukraine for the whole of 2023.
Italy's sixth aid decree to Kyiv is expected to be approved by
the end of this year or the start of next, sources said.
It is expected to include Aspide (Asp) ground-to-air missile
defence systems to help stop a barrage of Russian missiles on
Ukraine.
The Aspide is to be preferred over the more advanced Samp/T
system which is rarer and harder to get, sources said.
But the exact nature of the military aid, like the previous
shipments, is to be covered by national security precepts and
will only be communicated to the intelligence services, sources
said.
The decree just passed was called "the NATO decree". (ANSA).
