Poland, Macron-Scholz-Draghi, 'don't press for concessions'

Ahead of the three leaders' potential visit to Ukraine

13 June, 14:33
(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 13 - European leaders Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz and Mario Draghi should not pressure President Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky to make concessions to Russia.

That's the appeal the Polish Foreign Ministry launched ahead of the three's possible visit to Kyiv. Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported.

In particular, Polish Undersecretary Marcin Przydacz, in a radio program, recalled that the same Polish President Andrzej Duda has long urged European leaders to visit Ukraine and see Bucha and Borodianka, hoping such a visit might change their approach.

The Polish diplomat believes, however, that there is 'no illusion' that this will completely change the line of the three. Still, he believes that it is necessary to work on it o that they do not pressure Volodymyr Zelensky for concessions'.

Przydacz said that he does not understand why Ukraine "should forgive Russia." (ANSA).
