Mattarella met Kosovo's president, dialogue needed
EU deal between Belgrade-Pristina an 'important opportunity'

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JAN 23 - "There is no alternative to the
path of dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade," Italian
President Sergio Mattarella said today, meeting Kosovo President
Vjosa Osmani on her first visit to Italy. "As one of the first
countries to recognize Kosovo, Italy understands how difficult
the path to reconciliation with Serbia can be. But, instead of
viewing the other as an enemy, we must make courageous choices
to foster a climate of mutual trust and respect," Mattarella
underlined. "The proposed agreement presented by the EU
represents an important opportunity that both parties should
seize, also in the logic of future European Union membership,"
Mattarella added. (ANSA).
