(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 24 GEN - Italy and North Macedonia have "a
strong, solid, credible partnership; we have always supported
them on their path to European integration." Ambassador in
Skopje Andrea Silvestri told ANSA on the sidelines of the
Balkans Conference. "In July, finally, the accession
negotiations started. We are partners on the general level, but
we are also supporting them in different areas such as
agriculture, good governance, internal affairs, and we are
trying to promote more relations on the trade level," Silvestri
added, underlining that "European integration is necessary for
them."
"The government in Skopje fully believes in it; it has a strong
Western anchor, it is a Nato country, and it is chairing the
OSCE. So it is our duty and interest to accompany them on this
path." (ANSA).
